About Us
Meet Your Hosts
Owner Bernie, Granddaughter Dani, Daughters/managers Carolyn and Teresa
Missing: Owners Dean and Karen, children of Teri
We are excited to share our cabin with you!
Our original, family-owned cabin is lovingly managed by Teresa—a middle school teacher near the coast—and Carolyn, a software design engineer. Both are granddaughters of the original owners. The home was purchased by our grandparents and has stayed in the family, now owned by their daughter, Bernie and her sister Teri’s children, Dean and Karen.
We are all native Angelenos and have spent countless family vacations here—hiking through the forests, riding motorcycles, fishing, swimming at Lake Gregory, and waterskiing at Silverwood Lake. Winters were filled with building snow forts, hiking, skiing, and, when we were young, visiting Santa at Santa’s Village. Teresa even lived here for several years while raising her young family.
This house has always been a cherished escape for us, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

We are excited to share our cabin with you!
Our original-family-owned cabin is managed by Teresa, a full time middle school teacher near the coast, and Carolyn, a retired software design engineer, both granddaughters of the original owners. Purchased by our grandparents and currently owned by their daughters, Bernie and Teri. We are all native Los Angelians, and have enjoyed countless family vacations here hiking through the forests, riding motorcycles, fishing, swimming at Lake Gregory or waterskiing at Silverwood Lake. Wintertimes would be spent building snow forts, hiking, skiing, and when we were little, visit Santa at Santa’s Village. Teresa even lived here for a few years, raising her young family. This house has always been a favorite escape of ours and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
Why we love the mountains
To escape the city and give their growing family a place to vacation, our grandparents—then living in Los Angeles—purchased this property in the 1950s. To this day, many family members continue to return here to relax and recharge away from city life. It’s the perfect place to unwind with friends, hike around the lake, go wine tasting, explore the shops in town or nearby Lake Arrowhead, go fishing, or simply gaze at the millions of stars overhead at night. If you take a walk around the lake, you might even recognize the main lodge that served as Camp Walden in The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan.
Teresa, who made the cabin her home for several years while her nearby house was being built, describes the experience best: “As I take the winding road up the mountain, I unwind with every turn. When I reach the peak and descend into the valley where Lake Gregory sits, it feels like the weight of the world is lifted. This truly is a home away from home—an escape from the fast pace of the city.”
This is a wonderful place to share with family and friends, offering the feeling of being in a completely different world—yet just a short trip from the big city.
